The Marketing and Outreach Specialist will be an integral part of our overall marketing efforts and will work closely with the marketing team to develop and execute marketing plans that increase ridership and awareness of programs offered by GoDurham.  This position will report directly to the Marketing Manager and collaborate with the entire marketing team to plan, develop and execute on items that are consistent with the creative vision, brand, and mission of GoDurham.


Responsibilities include (but not limited to): 

  • Work closely with marketing manager and creative teams to develop impactful marketing campaigns that educate the public on the benefits of transit and how to use.
  • Serve as intermediary between GoDurham and GoTriangle updating the GoTriangle team on important changes or needs of GoDurham
  • Collaborate with the GoTriangle creative team to provide details regarding creative direction for collateral including but not limited to photography, videography, social media, website and graphic design, content development and event planning
  • Use analytic tools to gauge and report on success of programs, advertising and other means of promotion
  • Active as marketing leader in weekly and monthly meetings with GoDurham
  • Responsible for overseeing all outreach activities with the assistance of the public engagement team to include event leadership as well as community and public meetings
  • Ensure all marketing produced are reviewed and adhere to brand guidelines


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Competencies

  • Familiarity with Durham, NC
  • 3+ years' experience in a marketing and/or outreach role
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
  • High level of initiative, effort and commitment toward completing assignments either with a team or as an individual contributor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from four-year college or university and three years of experience in marketing, web or digital communications, public relations, journalism or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
